As a family we have never done Elf on the Shelf and I only really heard about it the last five years or so, and, like Black Friday, appears to be another of those things which we have adopted from the US. The idea behind it seems to be an extension of the message that you need to behave as Father Christmas knows whether or not children have been good and will dispense presents accordingly. Rather than being the all-knowing omnipotent being from my childhood, in this version, Santa has sent his emissary in the form of the elf.
Despite not having the Elf on the Shelf tradition as part of our family celebrations, HL and I have used the character of The Elf for the last few years or so in our kinky play. Elf allows me to explore the very naughty in a much less traditionally submissive way, and draws on my cheeky, bratty, mischievous side, so it can be quite fun. Not just naughty, Elf is also dirty and, unlike the other me, seems to be quite brazen and upfront about showing that, so it allows us to explore different sorts of play.
Here is The Elf, waiting quietly on her shelf. Number 20 in our D/s Advent Calendar 2019 is The Elf Returns – and she means business so I thought that a picture for this one might be quite fitting. We have fallen behind in terms of completing some of the tasks and very behind in terms of writing them up, but I hope to write more about the Elf at some point in the future. If you would like to read a CNC post involving The Elf, then you might want to check out Consensual Non-Consent which is about Elf and The Beast.
